The 2015 Forbes Billionaires List has been released  with Bill Gates still on top among the world billionaires.

Gates, co-founder of the Microsoft, Inc and the former CEO and chairman of the largest software company until January, 2000 has been ranked 1st in the past 21 years in the Forbes list. He was also the largest shareholder of Microsoft until May last year. A Harvard dropout, he started as a founder of a small software company that has grown to become the largest in the world today. In this year’s list, Gates’ total net worth has risen to US$729.2 billion.

Following Gates in the 2015 Forbes Billionaires List  are Mexican business mogul Carlos Slim Helu placed at second, while Warren Buffett, owner and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, ranks third.

In the Philippine business scene, there were 12 proudly Filipino billionaires who made it to the 2015 Forbes Billionaires List List .

Though the highest spot attained by our rich fellowmen were not at the top 10,  landing #73rd in that prestigious 2015 Forbes Billionaires List is  not a child’s play.

No wonder these wealthy individuals are considered to be the Richest Filipinos for 2015.

Henry Sy, Sr. remains at the top among the Richest Filipinos for 2015.

Sy, a retail mogul and mall magnate, started with a small shoe store, Shoemart (SM), in Carriedo Street in downtown Manila in 1958. He opened his first mall in 1985. Riding on the boom in retail trade in the Philippines in the 1990s, he expanded his business by venturing into specialty shops that includes Kultura, Baby Company, Toy Kingdom, and by acquiring the local franchise for Watsons and Ace Hardware. Eventually, he went into retail food business, banking, real estate, reclamation, education, and recently, integrated resorts with his City of Dreams Entertainment Complex. Although officially retired from any corporate positions, he continues to function as a consultant to his children and their families who now heads the various divisions of his business empire.

Today, he owns one of the largest food manufacturing companies in the Philippines, Universal Robina Corporation. He is also the owner of one of the largest conglomerates, JG Summit Holdings, Inc. He also has ventured into real estate, property development, retail, banking, petrochemicals and commercial aviation businesses. His son Lance currently heads Cebu Pacific, Inc, one of the most profitable airline companies in the country.

(ICTSI) of the Razon Industries and Sureste Realty Corp., he is the youngest among the richest Filipino billionaires.

He is also a major shareholder of the University of the East and recently, he has bought back his shares in Philippine Airlines which he previously sold to Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corporation.
