Armida Siguion-Reyna passed away Monday afternoon, Februay 11 at the age of 88. She was confined at Makati Medical Center .
According to her sister Irma Potenciano , the actress died of cancer.

Armida also confirmed the news in his radio program. He said that the actress suffered from pneumonia and also had colon problems.
“Malungkot ako at malungkot kaming lahat ng mga kapatid ko sa pagpanaw ni Armida. Ikinalulungkot ko na siya’y nagkasakit at bagamat ginamot ay pumanaw pa rin. Parati ko siyang binibisita. Sa kabila nito, masaya na rin ako na makakapagpahinga siya,” former Sen.Enrile said.
“Malaki ang kanyang naging kontribusyon sa larangan ng showbiz at isinulong niya ang wika natin sa kanyang mga kanta. Ipinagmamalaki ko na naging tanyag siya,” he added.
Armida Siguion-Reyna was a prominent figure and was considered as one of the pillars of Philippine cinema.
Her most popular show was the musical show “Aawitan Kita”, which lasted for more than a decade.
At the time Joseph Estrada was the Philippine president, she served as chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
She is the mother of Director , Carlos Siguion-Reyna, Monique Siguion-Reyna Villonco and Leonardo Siguion-Reyna Jr. , and also grandmother of singer Cris Villonco.
Internment details has yet to be released by her family.
