Affected Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) of the Xiamen Airlines accident received financial assistance today. Those OFWs whose flights were delayed or cancelled received Php 5000.
Many of Filipino migrant workers went to the information counter of NAIA Terminal 1 to claim the money from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

According to DFA, this financial aid is meant to help ease the financial costs that the OFWs incurred due to delayed flights caused by the Xiamen Airlines accident.
Other migrant workers who wish to claim DFA’s financial assistance may still do so until Friday, August 24. They may go to NAIA or to the Office of Migrant Workers Affairs located at the 3rd floor of the DFA Building in Roxas Boulevard.
Claimants should present the following- their airline ticket showing the original date of departure; the reissued ticket showing the new date of departure; their employment contract; and overseas employment certificate.
Today, Philippine Airlines (PAL) launched the replacement flights for canceled flights to Riyadh and Damman in Saudi Arabia. More than 200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), were aboard the flight.
One hundred OFWs will alight in Riyadh, and the remaining passengers will be brought to Damman, PAL said.
