Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas makes her grand comeback on May 4 via primetime television with a new soap opera Let the Love Begin.
This is the Comedy Queen’s first major venture with GMA-7 after she recently signed a two-year exclusive contract with GMA Network on April 16.
Let the Love Begin also stars Ruru Madrid, Gabbi Garcia, Gina Pareno, Donita Rose, Gladys Reyes, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Neil Ryan Sese, and GardoVersoza. The drama series will be directed by Gina Alajar.
Ai-Ai delas Alas plays the role of Jeni, a celebrity DJ and a hip and cool mother to Erick (Ruru Madrid). Gardo Versoza is Tony, Jeni’s best friend and the father of Pia (Gabbi Garcia). Donita Rose takes on the role of Celeste, wife of Tony and Pia’s stepmother. Mark Anthony Fernandez is Jom, the station manager who is in love with Jeni while Neil Ryan Sese is Jom’s best friend Jess, who is secretly in love with Jeni. Gladys Reyes is Katy, Jeni’s rival DJ in the other station. Gina Pareno is Lola Tacing, Jeni’s mother and Erick’s grandmother.
The rest of the cast include Noel Trinidad as Milton, head of the maintenance in the bookstore where Erick works; Phytos Ramirez as Uno, son of Celeste’s friend, Abel Estanislao as Makoy, Erick’s friend, Ricardo Cepeda as Rodney, Tony’s friend and station manager of LSS FM; Joko Diaz as Enrico, Jeni’s alcoholic live-in partner; Rita Daniela as Luchie, Celeste’s “adopted” niece; Ar Angel Aviles as Elsa, Erick’s younger sister; Normer Limatog as Jules, younger brother of Makoy. Also included in the cast are Angeli Bayani, Sancho delas Alas, Therese Malvar, and Ren Escano.
Let the Love Begin promises not only to make audiences laugh and cry but also fall in love with the characters through the love story of Jeni and Tony as well as their children Erick and Pia. The series will show how love can prevail despite insurmountable challenges and difficulties that people encounter in life.
Aside from her new drama series, Ms. Ai Ai delas Alas will be busy with her upcoming concert, “Ai am who Ai am”, which will be staged at the Sky Dome at SM North Edsa on May 16.
The said concert will be her way of giving thanks to her loyal fans who have consistently thrown their support for the Queen of Philippine Comedy whose colorful career had gone through a lot of ups and downs. In addition, her new home network GMA-7 has lined up a number of other projects including a talk show, a weekend show, and a sitcom with fellow comedian Vic Sotto.
