Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos has confirmed that Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin will no longer star in Darna movie. This was due to Angel’s health condition relating to a spine problem.
In an interview with ABS-CBN news reporter MJ Felipe, she confirmed that the decision is final.
But, because deep in our hearts na siya lang ang pwedeng maging Darna, we gave her the chance and she promised to do the therapy na magpapagaling siya para sa kanyang likod,” she said.
It was in 2015 when Angel confirmed her spine condition in an interview with Boy Abunda in “Tonight with Boy Abunda”.
The actress shared how she got the injury. According to Angel, when the Darna movie was offered to her, she immediately went to training through regular exercise and martial arts Muay Thai for more than two years. However due to the intensive physical training, she gradually developed disc bulge in her spine.
Angel went to Singapore for therapy and recovery. However, recently her doctor did not give her clearance to do strenuous physical activities.
Despite this unfortunate turn of events, Angel Locsin accepted it positively.
Her message to her fans – “Sana maintinidhan niyo kami, hindi po madali. So maraming, maraming salamat.
ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak on the other hand assured that Angel will be seen in other Kapamilya projects.
