Newly appointed chief operating officer of Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Cesar Montano plans for Disneyland or Universal Studios in Subic, Zambales. It was discussed in his one of his meetings with SBMA Chairman Martin Dino.
Last Dec. 20, Cesar took oath for his new government role and is now planning to take a leave from the entertainment industry.
In an interview, Cesar said –
“Puwedeng gawin na Universal Studios ang Subic kasi meron itong airport, may pier, may zoo, may ocean park, tapos may forest, may highway… lahat naroroon.”
Cesar Montano also stated that he is excited to promote the Philippines.
“Wala akong makitang reason kung papaano mo hindi ipu-promote ang Philippines.” he said.
He however confirmed that he will be coordinating with the Department of Tourism.
“But how would you promote it? Siyempre, kailangan mo malaman sa kanila…Yung insights ko will follow pagkatapos kong marinig yung mga data nila.Hindi tayo puwedeng magyabang na, ‘Ito ang alam ko, ito ang gawin natin…No, we have to listen to them.” he added
Last March this year, a hoax news went around the social media saying that Disneyland is eyeing the Philippines for a deal. This news came after former president Benigno Aquino III and Walt Disney International chairman Andy Bird met at the US-ASEAN summit.
This was debunked by an article in disneyexaminer.com with a statement saying –“At Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we continually look for ways to grow our business and as part of that process, we have conversations with many different entities,” said a spokesperson with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in a statement exclusively to DisneyExaminer. “While the Philippines is an attractive market, we have no plans for the region at this time.””
