Veteran actor Eddie Garcia dead at 90 years old.
According to reports, the multi-awarded actor passed away at the Makati medical Center today, Thursday at 4:55 p.m.
Last June 8, he had an accident while shooting for an episode of his teleserye in GMA-7. First, it was reported as a stroke, however it was later confirmed to be an accident. The actor tripped and suffered from severe cervical fracture.
Days after the accident, Eddie Garcia was in “comatose state with minimal spontaneous respiration” as said in a medical update. The family later agreed to put him on DNR or “do-not-resuscitate” status.
Recently he was awarded the Best Actor in Gawad Urian. This is for his role as an delusional retired military officer in the movie ML (Martial Law).
Director Benedict Mique , the film’s director accepted the award and read the message of Garcia family.

In last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Eddie Garcia also starred “Rainbow’s Sunset” . He played the role of a gay senator who has a relationship with co-actor Tony Mabesa.
As said in an ABS-CBN article, possibly there would be no wake for the actor.
“Aware that he couldn’t avoid death, Garcia had long prepared for his demise. He never wanted to be seen inside the casket. From his deathbed, he wanted to be cremated immediately.
No obituary, no wake. His ashes would be spread on the sea, at Manila Bay. That, too, was instructed early on to a pilot friend.“
