Former SC Justice Corona Dies at 68

Chief Justice CoronaSupreme Court’s Public Information Office (SC PIO) confirmed that former Chief Justice Corona has passed away today,  April 29, 2016. News came from the family Chief Justice Corona’s family that he had a cardiac arrest early this morning and died at 1:48 a.m.

Current Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has ordered  to put all flags in the Supreme Court and all courts nationwide at half-mast .

SC Corona Dies

 

Chief Justice Renato Corona was the 23rd Chief Justice of the Philippines under the Macapagal-Arroyo administration.

He served the judiciary from May 17, 2010 to May 29, 2012. He succeeded retired Chief Justice Reynato Puno.

In 2011, he faced an impeachment case and went down from his position as Supreme Court Justice. The House of Representative decided pushed his impeachment when Senate found him guilty of violating Article II of the Articles of Impeachment ,  pertaining to Corona’s failure to disclose his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth to the public.

He was born October 15, 1948 . His father Juan Corona, hailing from Tanuan Batangas was also lawyer. He is married to Cristina Basa Roco.
