A Balikbayan Hongkong OFW allegedly lost P50,000 worth of valuables upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Tuesday.
The Hongkong OFW, Maria Melencia Nabor found the fabric on her luggage torn nd held together with tape at carousel number five of NAIA Terminal 2
Upon inspecting her luggage, Nabor saw that zipper was damaged and that some of her jewelry, shoes and gifts for her newborn child were missing.
The Hongkong OFW immediatedly took a picture of her taped-up luggageand approached an airport employee to seek for help.
But airport authorities told her that stealing probably happened in Hongkong. Thus, they advised her to call her Airline, Philippine Airlines instead.
Cielo Villaluna, PAL spokesperson said that they already initiated the process the process of tracing Nabor’s luggage from Hongkong o the ground handling facility of PAL using CCTV footage.
On the other hand, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) spokesperson David de Castro said that it is airline’s responsibility when it comes to the safety of passenger’s baggage. Yet, they offered assistance to PAL in investigating the incident.
