Final Curtain Call for Kuya Germs

German Moreno RIP Kuya Germs

He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry,” he said.

Kuya Germs died at the age of 82.

Moreno suffered a mild stroke early last year which caused him slow down a bit but that did not stop him from what he loved the most – attending to his talents & entertaining his followers on TV and radio. He was also given a surprise party by his son and close friends on his birthday last October.

Twitterverse Confusion: portal tweeted about Kuya Germs being brought to the hospital around midnight:

: Isinugod si German “Kuya Germs” Moreno sa St. Luke’s hospital ngayong araw, January 7, dahil muli itong inatake.”

Initially, GMA News erroneously tweeted the passing of the Master Showman which was immediately deleted. It apologized for the confusion. Gina Alajar likewise spurned the inaccurate report in a tweet:

Pakiusap po,.. buhay pa po si kuya Germs, at lumalaban pa… he is under God’s grace and mercy…

However, after a couple of hours, it was reported that the Master Showman had expired.

John Nite issued a statement shortly after Moreno’s passing confirming the report:

German Morerno started from humble beginnings as a street vendor before landing as a janitor in Clover Theater where he was discovered. He was also known as a ‘star builder‘ in his show That’s Entertainment during the 80’s where many of the biggest celebrities at present were given their first break in show business.

Among his important legacies is the “Walk of Fame” in Eastwood, Libis where entertainers and media personalities were honored by being given their own “star.” Kuya Germs had also been seen among the audience during live shows of Sunday Pinasaya weekly and even attended the GMA Kapuso New Year Countdown at SM Mall of Asia.
