LTFRB ( Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) has just approved a temporary price hike earlier today.
All public jeep for National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa will now have Php 9 fare for the first four kilometers.
According to LTFRB board member Atty. Aileen Lizada – “The board in its regular meeting approved tonight a provisional fare increase of P1 for the first 4 kilometers for PUJ (public utility jeepneys) plying [the] NCR (National Capital Region), Region 3, and Region 4 routes,”
Atty.Lizada stressed that no order has been issued yet, therefore jeepney drivers cannot collect the P9 fare yet. The said temporary price hike will take effect once public announcement has been made.
Transport groups Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization (Acto), Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (Altodap), Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (Fejodap), Land Transportation Organization of the Philippines (LTOP), and Pasang Masda has requested for the provisional fare increase.
The first petition of the transport groups was submitted last September 2017 requesting for Php 2 fare increase, making the regular fare to Php 10. Aside from fare increase, the transport groups also demanded for P5 discount on diesel or suspension of VAT for petroleum products.
