Makati road closures for May 31 Flores de Mayo

Makati road closures that will happen on May 31, 2019 (Friday) has been announced.

Several roads in Makati will be closed to motorists to pave way for their Flores De Mayo procession. The identified roads will be closed from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Starting point will be at Makati City Hall Quadrangle and will end at Globe Circuit Event Grounds.

Since it is a weekday and within office hours, heavy traffic is expected.

In the official page of Makati LGU, the affected areas and the guidelines for alternate routes were posted. Aside from the alternate routes, it was stated that traffic cones will be in place by PSD personnel and traffic enforcers will be deployed to help manage the traffic.

In observance of the Flores de Mayo, the city government of Makati will implement road closures and rerouting schemes on Friday (May 31) from 1 PM to 7 PM.
FLORES DE MAYO ROUTE (Assembly starts at 1 PM, Program begins at 4 PM and Procession starts at 5 PM at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds until 7 PM)
The Flores de Mayo Procession Route will start from the Makati City Hall Quadrangle to the Globe Circuit Event Grounds via Hormiga Street, Trabajo Street, Hippodromo Street, and A.P. Reyes Street.
TRAFFIC REROUTING SCHEME (For vehicles affected by the Flores de Mayo)
FOR VEHICLES ALONG N. GARCIA STREET – COMING FROM KALAYAAN AVENUE (EASTBOUND – heading towards Rockwell Area and Guadalupe Nuevo)
Private and Public Utility Vehicles:
Option 1:
Along N. Garcia Street, cross J.P. Rizal Avenue towards Antipolo Street, right turn to S. Osmena Street, left turn to either E. Zobel Street or P. Burgos Street Extension (Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge Service Road), right turn to A. Mabini Street, left turn to J. P. Rizal Avenue to normal route destination.
Option 2:
Along N. Garcia Street, cross J.P. Rizal Avenue towards Antipolo Street, right turn to S. Osmena Street, right turn to P. Burgos Street Extension (Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge Service Road), left turn to J. P. Rizal Avenue to normal route destination towards Guadalupe/EDSA.
FOR VEHICLES ALONG J.P. RIZAL AVENUE – COMING FROM ROCKWELL AREA/EDSA (WESTBOUND – heading towards Makati City Hall and Delpan Street, Manila)
Private and Public Utility Vehicles:
No traffic congestion will be encountered along J.P. Rizal Avenue. However, a “stop and go” scheme will be implemented along A.P. Reyes Street to give way to the procession.
Traffic cones will be installed by PSD personnel to manage traffic in the area.
Traffic enforcers will be deployed for assistance.
Normal traffic flow will resume at 12:01 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
