Trending: Mariah Carey Mess-up New Year Performance

Mariah Carey is now trending because of her New Year’s eve performance for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest at New York’s Times Square.

Mariah who is now 46 years old was set to sing two of her major hit songs – “Emotions” and “We Belong Together.”

It all started with Mariah singing “Auld Lang Syne” with her glittery outfit.

When “Emotions” started to play, this diva greeted the spectators “Happy New Year!”. However when she started to sing the first line of the song”I feel good”, she stopped then tried to look for her earpiece.

Unexpectedly, she then uttered – “All right, We didn’t have a check for this song… so we’ll just say.. ”

She tried to continue on the line “Feels like a dream” but ceased singing again.
“We’re missing some of these vocals, but it is what it is,” she said.

What’s more surprising is when the part where the high notes play in the song, a recorded playback kicked in.

Mariah continued to say things like – “I’m trying to be a good sport here.” ; “I wanted a holiday too, can I not have one?”

Despite the messed up singing, Mariah Carey still managed to do some of dance steps though.

In her next song, “We Belong Together”, she attempted to do a lip sync, but it was another epic fail.

The performance ended up with Mariah saying -“It just don’t get any better.

After the controversial performance, Mariah’s rep claimed that  there was technical issue with the singer’s earpiece that was not resolved by the production. In fact, Mariah rehearsed for 3 hrs. night before the show.

“…Instead of endeavoring to fix the issue so that Mariah could perform, they went live…A shame that production set her up to fail.”” she said.

This statement was refuted by a  a production source saying that “(Mariah) Had ample time to rehearse and chose not to…the singer did not do a vocal run-through. ” It was also said that all was working well on the technical side.

Mariah has just recently split from her billionaire fiance James Packer.
