Maute leader Omar Maute and terrorist Isnilon Hapilon was reported killed in a military assault early Monday.
The building in Marawi city where the top leaders of the Islamic State-inspired extremists Maute group were hiding was targeted by the military this morning. The location was divulged to the authorities by a female hostage who managed to escape.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said this in a statement.
“They were able to get a testimony from a hostage who was able to escape. She was able to confirm the presence of Isnilon and Maute in that particular building. That’s the building that we assaulted this morning. They are confirmed dead,”

Malacañang said that a P5 million bounty for the “neutralization” of each of the Maute brothers, and P10 million for Hapilon will be given.
The Marawi crisis started in May 2017. Approximately 753 terrorists; 47 civilians and 155 soldiers we killed in the conflict. Thousands of residents of Marawi city were forced to evacuate.
According to Defense Secretary Lorenzana, the death of the two terrorists signals the end of Marawi conflict. However, military operations may still continue to arrest other Maute members.
