As the most awaited Miss Universe pageant is closely coming, pageant mentor Jonas Gaffud eyes a Top 3 finish for the country’s bet, Maxine Medina.
According to reports, Gaffud said in an interview with the entertainment website Pep, how he wanted Top 3 finish for Maxine. “Well, I’m aiming for the Top 3. Gusto kong makapasok sa Top 3 si Maxine.”
The Top 3 finish for Maxine may not be impossible for Gaffud as he was known for having trained previously crowned beauty queens.
Aside from Medina, Gaffud also trained the likes of Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015), Megan Young (Miss World 2013) and Kylie Verzosa (Miss International 2016).
As such, Gaffud believes that Medina is ready to compete in the 65th Miss Universe pageant, which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on January 30.
“Ready na iyon,” he said. “I mean, kung matapat sa kanya ‘yung tanong na masasagot niya nang maayos, e ‘di okay. Pero kasi, beauty-wise, performance-wise, alam kong pasok na pasok na siya.
And giving a moral support, Gaffud allegedly told Medina not worry too much about scoring a back-to-back victory for the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant and instead focus on being a good host delegate.
“Sinabi ko na ito sa kanya, na huwag na niyang isipin ‘yung pressure ng back-to-back win [after Pia],” he said. I-enjoy niya ‘yung host delegate siya. Every day i-welcome niya ‘yung mga girls, ganyan, para in the event na manalo siya, e ‘di lahat gusto nila siya. Kasi nga, mabait siya.”
