MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) has announced that Roxas Boulevard would be closed for vehicles on May 6 to make way for the INC Worldwide Walk.
Religious group Iglesia Ni Cristo will hold its INC Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty on the said date.
According to MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia, both northbound and southbound lanes of Buendia to Padre Burgos on Roxas Boulevard will not be passable starting 12:00 mn of May 5 until May 6 , 10:00 pm.
“We need the cooperation of the public, stay away from Roxas Boulevard and some areas in Manila and Pasay if you do not have any business or anything important to do there” Garcia said.
Aside from Roxas Boulevard other roads affected are the following:
- Portions of Buendia, Taft Avenue and Road 10
- Roads around the vicinity of Quirino Grandstand, Luneta Park and Cultural Center of the Philippines
There will be 200 MMDA personnel that will be deployed to give assistanceto motorists and participants, and help maintain peace and order during the INC Worldwide Walk .
DOTR Undersecretary Tim Orbos advised the event participant to as much as possible not use their vehicle and use MRT or LRT instead when going the venue.
“We urge them not to bring their vehicles and just park their vehicles away from the venue,” he said.
