The drama anthology of ABS-CBN MMK launches website as it marks its 25th anniversary this year.
On Sunday, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” also launched a year-long celebration to thank its viewers for their continued support.
MMK started to air since 1991 with a concept of telling real-life stories of various letter senders, offering inspiration, hope and life lessons to its viewers. An interview with the MMK host and ABS-CBN chief content officer Charo Santos-Concio, she said that she didn’t expect the show to last long.
“Talagang malaking malaking blessing ito. It’s really quite a feat for any program to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Dahil na rin ito sa lahat ng hard work, dedication and commitment ng production staff, ng technical crew at lahat ng bumubuo ng ‘MMK,’” she said.
Santos-Concio also added that she credited the show’s longevity to the stories. “Iba ‘yung kuwento na hango sa totoong buhay. Makaka-relate ang mga viewers. I’d like to think that in our own little way, we were able to bring relief to our viewers. Nakapagbigay kami ng pag-asa. It’s been a positive influence to our Kapamilyas. Tinitignan nila ‘yung programa na nagdudulot ng inspirasyon at pag-asa sa kanilang buhay,” she said.
According to reports, Santos-Concio also answered when asked about the show’s biggest challenge: “Of course, we have to stay true to the context of the stories that we receive. We have to be faithful to their stories so talagang malalim na research ang ginagawa namin. Kinikilala namin ‘yung letter sender pati ‘yung mga taong naging bahagi sa kanilang kuwento to verify the truth behind their stories.”
Being the host of MMK since the beginning, the veteran network executive revealed that the show has taught her to appreciate blessings in her life.
“I learned to count my blessings, to never complain because there are people who are going through so much more pain,” she said. “Tinuruan din ako na mas maging maunawain, to show a lot more compassion, to see the story from the perspective of other people.”
And as part of the show’s silver anniversary, MMK launches website mmk.abs-cbn.com where netizens be able to watch past episodes.
As MMK launches website, one of its section is to allow its fans to send their life stories by writing a letter or uploading a video for a chance to be featured in the program.
The show will also hold a get-together for all its letter senders to be held in Davao on July 6, with another leg in Luzon in August. Additionally, Santos-Concio will also reach out to other parts of the world, delivering inspirational talks to overseas Filipinos in the “Kwentuhang Kapamilya” series.
To conclude, the show’s various episodes starring Zanjoe Marudo, Jessy Mendiola, Princess Punzalan, Angel Locsin and JC De Vera will be featured in the coming weeks.
