NLEX, STAR Toll fee to increase November 6

NLEX, STAR Toll fee is set to increase starting November 6.

NLEX toll fee will have a Php 0.25 increase per kilometer. While the closed system from North of Marilao, Bulacan to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat, Pampanga will be at Php 236 from Php 218.

Batangas Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Toll will add Php 0.67 per kilometer for its toll fee from Sto. Tomas to Batangas City.

This was approved by the Toll Regulatory Board, considering the Php 3.7 billion expense of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation in improving  NLEX, Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Manila–Cavite Expressway (Cavitex).

Toll Regulatory Board Asst. Sec. Bert Suansing confirmed in an interview that Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation filed for the petition for “cost recovery” of the roadworks done.

In NLEX, the 64 kilometer lane between Sta. Rita, Guiginto Bulacan and Sta.Ines, Mabalacat City Pampanga is now open.

RFID (radio frequency identification) lanes can now be used in NLEX, SCTEX and Cavitex. Additional toll gates will also be installed in the choke points, where queue usually build-up.

Expressway at transportation officials assured that these major expressways will have minimal traffic issues in the coming “Undas”. This is despite the expectation that there will be an increase of 15-20% increase in passing vehicles.

Additional assistance were also added for the public who will experience vehicle problems.
