No Classes ASEAN Summit has been announced – November 16 and 17.
Metro Manila mayors agreed that there will be no classes in all levels. Metro Manila Council has decided to suspend classes both private and public schools on the said dates.
The Philippines will be hosting the 31st ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit. Various activities and meetings are expected to happen on November 10 to 14, which will be held at Clark Air Base, Pampanga . Leaders of Southeast Asian countries, diplomats, and top officials of ASEAN partner countries will arrive the country to attend this event.
According to the White House, US President Donald Trump will attend several ASEAN meetings to discuss the North Korean nuclear threat. This will also be Trump’s first official meeting with President Duterte.
It was also reported that United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will attend the meeting.
19,000 cops will be deployed to secure the event as said by NCRPO chief, Oscar Albayalde.
Malacañang is yet to decide if November 13, 14, and 15 will be declared as non-working holidays in NCR and in other affected parts of the country.
It is the second time for the Philippines to host the ASEAN Summit under the Duterte administration. First was 30th ASEAN Summit held last April 27 and 28, 2017 in Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
