DepEd (Department of Education) has announced that here will be no classes January 2, 2019 from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in public schools.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones. signed DepEd Memorandum No. 193. It states that “As such, work in all offices and units of the Department of Education (DepEd) throughout the country is suspended on the same date,“.
As said in the memorandum – “The suspension of classes in private schools is left to the discretion of their respective school administration, the memorandum states.”
The proclamation of no classes January 2 only covers public schools.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Memorandum Circular No. 54 last Dec. 17 . According to the memorandum , “work in government offices throughout the country, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges, local government units, and other agencies and instrumentalities, is here by suspended on 2 January 2019.”
