As the last year’s champion, NU Pep Squad bound to defend their title. This year, it was indeed a triumphant win for them as they have made a mark on the Cheer Dancing Competition History of UAAP.

NU Pep Squad is the second cheerdancing team to hold the title of winning four consecutive championships.

First one to make it was University of Santo Tomas.

There were six teams that competed this year- FEU Cheering Squad (Runner-up), Adamson Pep Squad (Third place)0, UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe (Fourth place), Ateneo Blue Babble  (Fifth place).

The UP Pep Squad was missing in action as an alleged sign of protest for last year’s result. In 2015, UP Pep squad were disappointed when they landed third place.

NU coach Ghicka Bernabe described this win saying “This is one of our sweetest victories

It was a good comeback for us after that controversial win last year. This is what we want to prove to everyone that we can really win the championship…This is to affirm, after what happened last year that was controversial, that we are truly, truly the champion”  Bernabe added.

The 2016 UAAP Cheerdance Competition was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Here is the futuristic-inspired performance by NU Bulldogs Pep Squad.
