APEC Summit 2015 will be attended by the most powerful leaders in the region. One of which is the US President Barack Obama, who, according to Inquirer, arrived at Villamor Airbase around 11:20 a.m. today. He disembarked the Air Force One.

Reportedly, Pres. Obama was welcomed by Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Cuisia Jr, and US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg.

Rappler noted that the US President was then taken to the Sofitel Hotel in Manila via Marine One, the presidential chopper.

Obama is scheduled to speak on Nov. 18 at the APEC CEO Summit. He will then join other leaders in APEC Summit 2015 at the welcome reception and dinner hosted by Philippine President Benigno Aquino III on the said date. Obama will be attending the APEC Leader’s Retreat the following day.

Pres. Obama is said to give emphasis on pro-American trade and discuss the territorial dispute between China and other claimants in the South China Sea even in the presence of Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Terrorism is expected to be conversed during the APEC Summit 2015 following the attacks in Paris which killed over 100 individuals.

Apart from APEC Summit 2015, the US President is also set to visit the Philippine Navy’s flagship vessel, US-made BRP Gregorio del Pilar, as he seeks to strengthen US-Philippine maritime cooperation.
