PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, popularly known as Bato meets Cardo, the leading policeman in ABS-CBN top rating series, “Ang Probinsyano”
As Bato meets Cardo, they have discussed the positive effects of the series in helping the country’s police force regain the trust of Filipinos.
“Maganda ang ginagawa niyo sa ‘Ang Probinsyano.’ Bumabalik ang kumpiyansa ng mga tao sa mga pulis,” Dela Rosa told Martin and the creators of the hit series, which is about an honest cop striving to do the best in his job, as they sat down for a meeting inside his office at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
Dela Rosa also told Coco Martin who plays the role of Cardo, a police in “Ang Probinsyano” to try and keep the show on-air for as long as they can. “Sana tuloy-tuloy na iyan,” the PNP chief said.
The series “Ang Probinsyano” has debut on September 2015, and has tackled a range of topics such as the illegal drug trade, prostitution rings, police corruption, child abductions, and most recently, high-profile assassinations.
As Bato meets Cardo, Coco Martin in real life admitted on interviews that e was “starstruck” by Dela Rosa.
“Nakakatuwa na napaka-down-to-earth niya at napaka-simple,” he said.
“Nagpasalamat din po ako sa suporta na binibigay sa amin ng PNP, sa tulong na ipinagkakaloob nila sa amin. Nagpapasalamat din sila na dahil sa soap opera na ginagawa namin eh naibabalik ang tiwala at pagmamahal ng mga tao sa pulis,” Martin added.
Meanwhile, when Coco was asked about his thoughts on the continued support from Filipinos, Martin replied: “Honestly, napakasarap po sa pakiramdam namin. Talaga pong pinaghihirapan namin ang aming trabaho.”
“And bukod pa doon, para po sa amin, masarap sa pakiramdam na nakakatulong po kami sa ating gobyerno, sambayanan para masugpo ang mga kriminalidad dito sa Pilipinas.”
“Ang Probinsyano” indeed had a great help in uplifting police images, so as Bato meets Cardo, it was surely an inspiring thought for everyone that the real PNP chief and the “police in character” were both aspiring for public welfare.
