In their official Facebook account, PNP (Philippine National Police) released information on common cyberworld modus operandi circulating in online.
PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group identified seven forms of cyberworld modus operandi namely –
- Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism
- Identity Theft
- Online Libel
- Online Scam
- Online Threat
Tips were provided in the infographic, which explains how the crime is committed.
PNP has dedicated several channels where citizens may report incidents of Cyberworld Modus Operandi .

Stated in the Republic Act No. 10175 also known as “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012”, fines for committing cybercrime range from Php 200,000 to 5,000,000 ; or imprisonment of prision mayor.
Last October 2016, PNP ACG Cybercops arrested a certain Rainier M. Tamayo. He was charged with online piracy as he was streaming copyrighted movies at his residence in Porac, Pampanga.
Maria Cecilla Regalachuelo , a sextortion queen in Norzagaray, Bulacan also fell into the hands of PNP. The illegal activity involved engaging foreign nationals in a sexually explicit chat conversation under an assumed female account. Then inviting to go live via webcam and persuade potential victim to perform sexually explicit acts while being recorded without the knowledge of the victim, said the official.
The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) was formed last 2013 during the Aquino administration.
