PNP’s anti-theft reminder to Pokemon Go players

The Philippine National Police reminds Pokemon Go fans of anti-theft tips while playing the trending mobile game.

The public is very much excited with the game to the extent of being unaware of their surroundings if it is safe.

Thus, PNP issued some anti-theft tips and warnings to Pokemon Go players.

In their Facebook page, the PNP remind Pokemon Go fans to always be alert while playing.

Para sa ating mga kababayang Pokémon trainers, narito ang ilang paalala upang maging ligtas at masaya ang inyong paghahanap ng mga Pokémon. Go catch ’em all! (c) PNP Facebook page

As a friendly reminder, here are PNP’s anti-theft tips to Pokemon Go players:

  • Do not play while driving
  • Better to hunt Pokémon with companions
  • Avoid dark areas as much as possible
  • Always be mindful of your surroundings
  • Secure your carry-ons while playing
  • Don’t trespass; always ask owner’s permission of private premises

Further, PNP also firmly said, “Tandaan, ito ay Pokémon Go, hindi Cellphone Go”, a warning against people who may fall victims to phone snatchers preying on distracted players.

On the other hand, other private offices previously issued a public reminders on playing Pokemon Go. To wit, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and private school Xavier.

Nevertheless, certain companies and commercial establishments have cashed in on the phenomenon, like malls and telecommunications firms.
