Marko de Guzman, the student who was recently injured in a Grab accident died today, Tuesday. A Facebook post by a relative under the account name Isabe Ocliasa confirmed the news.
Last October 26, Marko got badly hurt in a car accident while on-board a Grab car with a companion. The incident happened in Taft Avenue, Manila. According to news reports, the Grab car collided with another car and hit an LRT post. Allegedly, the Grab driver was said to be sleepy at that time.
This Grab accident caused serious injuries on Marko.
He sustained a fractured skull that lead to a “severe traumatic brain injury.” He was in critical condition after the accident and was confined at the ICU (intensive care unit) of the Manila Doctors Hospital. Marko had to undergo brain surgeries and still needed a risky treatment called brain shunting.
Steffi De Guzman, the victim’s cousin made an FB post a few days ago narrating what happened on this accident. It was mentioned that under Grab’s policy, the comapany will only shoulder around Php 200,000 in cases like this.
In a separate post, Isabe Ocliasa shared that Marko’s bill has reached almost Php 3 million and can possibly reach up to Php 6 million.
Marko was a fourth year mechanical engineering student at the University of Santo Tomas.
