Using her Facebook account, an undaunted UP student speaks about her UPLB Sexual Harassment encounter.
Her traumatic experience did not stop her from narrating how an alleged UPLB foreign graduate student “sexually assaulted” her. The foreign student was said to be under a SEARCA (Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture ) scholarship program of University of the Philippines Los Baños.
The Facebook account whose name appears as “Jing Paz,” stated that a complaint has been filed with the UPLB Gender Center after the incident. However, she is now alarmed that to date no action has been taken about the case and the offender is set to leave the country this month.
“The person who sexually assaulted me is set to leave this October, and may even graduate from the university despite his failure to live up its mantra of Honor and Excellence.” she said.
She is also disgruntled on the issue on how “diplomatic relations” has interfered with the handling this alleged UPLB Sexual Harassment case.
“I had shouldered much of that disappointments from the institutions that should have helped me in the beginning, but turned me down in the process for the sake of diplomatic relations, and I think I can still accommodate some more. If any, these negative turn of events will make me stronger and more determined to flip the tide.”, she added
In her last words, Paz asked for suggestions where she can carry on with her appeal. Comments from fellow netizens advised Paz to seek the help of Gabriela and even Commission Human Rights (CHR).
