University President Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin has issued an official statement on the Ateneo bullying video that went viral today.
The video that first went viral happened in what looked like a comfort room. It will be seen that a student who was smaller in size was challenging another student to a fight.
“Gusto mo bang mabugbog?…” he said. The at one point he started a countdown, while waiting for the other student’s answer.
It was inaudible what the other student answered. However, based on what the alleged bully student said in front of the camera it was obvious that violence was bound to happen.
Until the unpleasant incident happened.
Allegedly the junior highschool student involved in the incident was identified in social media posts as Joaquin Montes. It was said that he is a taekwondo athlete.
Since it went viral, Ateneo bullying video is now earning the ire of many citizens and has even caught the attention of DepEd (Department of Education) and Senate.
Both Senator Sonny Angara and JV Ejercito aired their sides via Twitter saying that schools must strictly enforce Anti-Bullying Act of 2013.
Kids and parents have a right to demand that schools provide a safe and nurturing learning environment #NoToBullying

No to bullying. Parents shouldn’t tolerate their kids who bully other kids.

Unfortunately, there were two other alleged bullying incidents that involved Joaquin Montes and the videos also surfaced . These videos were viewed by Attorney Suzette Medina of DepEd’s Director of Legal Services .
“May galit at saka lungkot, kasi siguro galit kasi bakit kailangan pa it happened three times? Siguro nung once, may nakapag-report na, at kung na-ireport, may nagawa ba ang school? ” she said.
In the statement released by Ateneo, it was said that they are probing on the incident.
