Video of American soldier singing Tagalog song goes viral

An American soldier singing Tagalog song has been gaining praises from netizens. An FB account under the name of CJ Ortega uploaded the three videos, which has now reached thousands of reactions, shares and comments and million views.

The video was taken inisde a burger food house, where  a man in his uniform was dining-in with a friend and suprised the crew when he sang two OPM songs. He performed  a portion of Sam Concepcion’s “Mahal Na Mahal”  and Michael Pangilinan’s “Bakit Ba Ikaw?”.

What made the video trending?

Well, aside from having a nice voice, this American soldier singing Tagalog song was applauded by netizens for being fluent in speaking our native language.

The star of the video was identified as Estephan Coleman, a United States Army who has African-American roots. He is currently stationed in South Korea.

According to an article in Inquirer, the uploader of the video said that this happened last Nov. 9 at “Juicy Burger”, which was located in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
It was also confirmed that Estephan is very fluent in speaking Tagalog since he leraned from his Filipino friends. He has also traveled the Philippines and would actually be going here on November 28.
